I agree with your perspective on MVP, but what I find is that at certain companies, people put out an MVP of a feature and never improve it. Then, the feature gets forgotten and continues to live on in its mvp state. Eventually a bunch of design debt is amassed, and people on the team live under a delusion that they are operating in an agile way, when in reality they are just doing waterfall but shipping shit features.
